Conquering Doubt, Worry, and Anxiety

Tuesday, August 21 – humid morning

Disclaimer and presentation of theme – The Bible tells us not to worry or have doubts or anxiety.

Warm-up: various stretches, plank jacks, SSH, grass pickers, mosey around central field at park.

Movement #1: Goal was to complete three shuttle runs in parking lot during the time it took to listen to Jason Gray’s song “Sparrow.”  Followed by brief explanation of the song’s reference to Matthew 6.  Next series of shuttle runs included exercises at each stop. Exercises included crab cakes, WWI sit-ups, Merkins, shoulder taps, squats and one-footed squats. Recovery between runs consisted of each man quoting/paraphrasing a Bible verse about doubt, worry, or anxiety.  Verses included Psalm 23, Phil. 4:6, 1 Pete 5:7, Romans 8:28, Josh 1:6 and a few others.

Movement #2: Descending Partner burpees and reverse burpees.  While one partner does a burpee, the other does a reverse burpee in sync.  After accumulating sufficient reps, the partners switch exercises.

Movement #3: Weight resistance training.  With 9 lb. jugs of water, PAX completed sets of curls, squats with jugs overhead, skull crushers, back rows, chest flys, and American hammers.  A set of leg lifts was added just for kicks (pun intended).
