The “Q” – Disclaimer (“Said Naturally”)

I am always impressed with how eloquently our brothers from the F3 Nation put into words what needs to be communicated.   If  you are like me, sometimes you know what you want to say, but it just doesn’t come out right.   I realize now that in order to overcome this I need to do TWO things.  (1) Model and (2) Practice.

Model – I listened to F3 Nation’s Pod Cast and then went back to listen again intently to what was being said and how it was being said. Picking up on tone, order of words, choice of words, and the energy.  Then I wrote down each word and wrote out a script so I could practice.

Here is the script that will assist you in your practice.

PRACTICE

Welcome to F3.  There are some things you need to know about F3 and we always need to remind each other.

  1.  Only men over the age of 18 can participate in the workout and accept this disclaimer.
  2. I  am not a professional, which points to our core principal of being volunteer peer lead.
  3. The exercises I suggest are just that suggestions.  I am not compelling anyone to do anything.  If I suggest something you are not comfortable with, modify as necessary to include even NOT doing the exercise.  This is not a pass fail workout or group.
  4. From continuing on from this point, and going on this workout with us you are accepting the very real risk of injury.   Please note we are exercising on public domain and you will be traversing uneven ground, it’s dark, and some spots may be slippery, you could lose footing quickly.

Now is the time to either get in  your car or state “Aye” affirming acceptance of risk of this workout.

What I realized when I read the DISCLAIMER from a hand written note at the last workout, guys (especially FNG) were nodding their heads, I heard a sigh of relief.  The words actually had time to penetrate our cerebral cortex to bring caution and concern for each other and what we are accomplishing on in the 1st F.  I think these words lay the ground work for the 2nd and 3rd F.  I recognize this is a mouthful, so put it in  your mouth a couple of times before  you take the Q.  Don’t feel like you have to memorize it.  Write it out, print, and read it with pause and purpose to continue to create an unbelievable culture and community.
