Tabata Convergence

Who’da thought?  YHC gamely signed up to Q Saturday’s Grease Monkey workout thinking it would just be the usual suspects…ya’ know…Flame, Dr. Seuss, Mani.  Turned out to be a flash mob!  31 PAX from up and down the eastern seaboard joined the workout.  Now, would that ever have happened before we’ve had forced isolation from COVID 19?  So there are good things that come out of adversity.  It was great to see men from as far south as Jackson, Mississippi (Side Effects!), South Carolina, and Virginia to more local PAX from Princeton, Philly, Villanova, Valley Forge, Hamburg, and of course, the Lehigh Valley.

Conditions ranged from balmy shorts weather to below freezing as well as climate controlled living rooms.

Mumblechatter was great!  This was a bit of a reunion for some of the PAX.

Disclaimer was given

Warm-a-rama: Arm Circles, Trunk Rolls, SSH, Abe Vigoda, Grass Pickers, Best Stretch Ever, Calf Stretch, Mountain Climbers, Peter Parkers

The Thang:

YHC was set up with my laptop streaming the Zoom meeting on my front porch with my phone positioned in front with a Tabata app to keep PAX together.

1st round of Tabata: 20 seconds of exercise with 10 seconds of rest; 8 rounds for a total of 4 minutes.  2 intervals each of Lunges, Butt Kicks, Plank with Leg Lift, and 180-degree Jumps

PAX instructed to use a coupon for the next round of exercises.  They ranged from 15-20 pound dumb bells to ruck sacks, to tiles, to tool chests.

15 Arm Curls, 15 Overhead Presses, 15 American Hammers (IC)

2nd round of Tabata: 2 intervals each of Gorilla Squats, High Knees, Merkins, and 180-degree Jumps

Coupon exercises: 15 Skull Crushers, 15 Goblet Squats, 15 Big Boy Sit Ups

3rd round of Tabata: 2 intervals each of Lunges, Butt Kicks, Plank with Leg Lifts, and 180-degree Jumps

Intermission while everyone got bumped out of the Zoom Meeting and logged back in.  It was a welcome respite.

Coupon exercises: 10 Manmakers, 15 Rows each arm, 15 Lunges

Mary — Dealer’s Choice from most of each represented regions: Grave Digger, Crunchy Frog, Freddie Mercury, Flutter Kicks (slow, fast, and long!), Boat/Canoe

COT: name-a-rama which took a while but was well worth seeing and hearing from each man present.  This was a great reminder of the awesome and broad community of F3 that we are privileged to be a part of.  Thank you men for joining the workout; it made my day!
