Warm-up
5 core principals, mission statement, and Disclaimer Approved by all. The Q has been a closet Commanded (formerly known as Redskins) fan for his entire life. It has been many years I have had a team and organization worth celebrating. So the theme was football related and exercise reps were based on 19. 19 years since the Commanders last won a playoff game.
Stretches for the above explanation, SSH (19 IC), Abe Vigodas (19 IC), Merkins (19 SC), Monkey Humpers (19 IC), Squats (19 SC), Arm Circles (19 SC), WGS (6 count per PAX)
Did a quick count-o-rama, because we were taking a mosey off-site. We did an Indian Run where the last PAX did 1 burpee with a football. When running to the front the PAX would pass it to the last man in line. We moseyed around the block and entered the straight away from the back side.
The Thang
Count-o-rama, numbers matched, so we didn't lose anyone!
Sports Ball- PAX broke up into 2 teams (odds and evens). A football was given to each team. The objective was to reach the pavilion on the opposite side of the field while doing the most burpees. The travel process is as follows:
- Each PAX will get the opportunity to throw the football with their NON-DOMINANT hand. Once a PAX throws the football there mode of transportation becomes bear crawl.
- The remaning PAX will sprint to the football for there team. The first PAX to reach will be the QB (or next to throw).
- Squats while waiting for the bear crawls to reach the ball.
- Once the team is all together. They will do burpees.
- The new QB will throw the ball (non-dominant hand) and bear crawl to it's location. The previous QBs will be bear crawling as well.
- Other PAX will sprint to the ball and squat till the six.
- Once the whole team is at the ball, burpees
- So on and so forth until the entire team is bear crawling to the football. At which point you recycle the sprints and bear crawl format, rinse and repeat until reaching the "end zone".
- Note: The burpees will be in a ladder format. Start with 1 on the first huddle, 2 on the second huddle, 3 on the third huddle, so on and so forth
The "Odd Guys" reached the end-zone first, but had 1 few burpee count than the "Even Stevens".
HALF-TIME: The PAX channeled there inner cheerleader with some Motivators, down from 6 (19 would have been cruel). The PAX showed there floor dance moves with what the Q called Plank-vators. (Think motivators but with Dancing Chilcutts and Flutter kicks down from 6 (IC))
Start of the 2nd half. Rinse and repeat back to the other end-zone, but the burpee ladder start back at 1. ( to the relief of the PAX and cheers from the crowd)
The "Even Stevens" figure out the strategy by not going for distance with the throws and racking up burpee totals. Regrettably the time ran out and the game ended in a tie, both wins or loser, a matter of perspective.
