The Grill is Closed!

As F3 wrestles with how to respond to the corona virus pandemic in a responsible manner, the question is to meet for a workout or not.  At the Grill, we opted to keep the workouts available while respecting each man’s individual decision.  We will refrain from any personal contact and use common sense.

However, we had another wrinkle…the Hamburg Community Park was officially closed, complete with caution tape put around pavilions and equipment to keep everyone out.  Not only did we lose our pull up bars last week, now we don’t even have a park!

But, we are F3 men and modify as needed.  We quickly pivoted to meet at the Kernsville Dam parking lot by the Bartram Trail.

3 PAX posted for a glorious, sunny, early-Spring morning run on the trail.  We were not the only people opting to meet during this crisis-driven shut down.  Three other men showed up with their dogs for a human and canine social time.  We gave them a head start on the trail so we wouldn’t have a pack of dogs chasing us.

Warm-a-rama: Arm Circles, Abe Vigoda, Grass Pickers, Trunk Rolls

We ran 1.25 miles out on the trail for a round trip of 2.5 miles.  Each ¼ mile, we stopped for a dealer’s choice of exercise.

Pyramid Push ups (1 push up: 1 air press; ladder up to 7 push ups:7 air presses and back down to 1:1)
Made use of a log along the trail for 15 Squats while holding the log
    Motivators: 8 down to 1
ATMs: 15 Alternating Shoulder Taps, 10 Tempo Merkins, 10 fast Merkins
Grab a rock or small boulder along the path and do 15 overhead presses
Lunge Walk with a Squat after each step for ~ 30 yards
Ab routine: In and Outs, Flutter Kicks, American Hammers
Elevens: 10 Jump Ups on a cement form: 1 Incline Merkin; ladder to 1 Jump Up: 10 Merkins
Back at the log – 15 Arm Curls

We made it back to the parking lot just after 8:00 and in time to meet Pocahontas’s and Ditto’s M’s arriving for their weekly walk on the trail.  It is good to see people staying in contact during this time of relative isolation.

COT: prayers for our nation, community, and families as we navigate this crisis.  Also prayers for Pork Chop’s 2.0 who is moving his wedding date up a month and opting for a small wedding on Sunday.

For coffeeteria, we opted to go through Dunkin Donut drive thru and then tailgate in the parking lot.
