For the last few years YHC was used to driving into an empty parking lot at the Grill and hoping the PAX would arrive. Now I can pretty much count on Oreo being there before me and this morning I followed an FNG into the parking lot. Six additional PAX soon trickled in. Wow! We didn’t even have our full contingent of “regulars”. In addition, halfway through our first routine an additional PAX mysteriously appeared. We didn’t recognize Wilson at first glance since his beard was gone! Ten PAX strong.
Our FNG was referred to us from his friend who recently experienced F3 in Dallas, Texas and strongly encouraged him to check us out. Klinger as he was eventually named will fit right in. He has a military background, having joined the military immediately following 9/11. He served in a comz role in a medical unit, hence the reference to his M*A*S*H namesake. The 50-somethings came up with the name and now really feel our age since most of the younger guys didn’t know much about this classic sitcom.
The disclaimer was given

This was a good time for a breather and Potsie gave us a summary of the First Quadrant of Leadership from the QSource — Get Right.
Lt Dan: Lunge, Lunge, Squat from the concession stand to the playground pavilion
Tooth Fairy — This was a new one to us. We made our way up the stairs to Franklin Street by doing an inclined merkin on the stairs and “hopping” up to the next stair on all fours. We all made it without smashing our faces into the concrete.
Back down the stairs to the playground
- Maktar N’Diays — 5 (IC) for each arm
- Prisoner Squats — 6 (IC) for each leg
- ATMs — 15 Alternating Shoulder Taps (IC), 10 Tempo Merkins (IC), 10 Fast Merkins
- Pull ups (AMRAP)
- 10 Underdogs
- 12 Dips (IC)
Mosey to the bandstand
BTTW: was supposed to be 5 count per PAX but some have a hard time following directions. After a seemingly long delay the count was eventually started with 10 count for the first half of the group. We were starting to drop and ended with quick 5 counts for the last several PAX
Mary — Dealer’s Choice: Wall Sit, American Hammers, Six Inches, Plank, LBC (Wilson had us do 50 IC since he missed that part of the first routine), Flutter Kicks, Freddie Mercury, Scissors, Box Cutters, Pickle Pushers (at this unfortunate time, Potsie’s M showed up to spirit him off to a family get together)
COT: We had fun naming our FNG as noted above. NEXT WEEK is THE GRILL’s 4-YEAR MANNIVERSARY!!! Workout followed by breakfast in the park (families invited) and then a hike from the Hamburg Reservoir to Pulpit Rock. Prayers for Wilson’s M and 2.0s as they deal with health issues.
5 PAX went to Four Twelve for coffeeteria where we were eventually joined by Ditto. The General also made an appearance
It was a great start to the day.
