02/26/2022 - Grill - Merlot Splash on the Escalator

The Grill has been on a roll with FNGs during the month of February and this last workout of the month didn’t let us down.

Sheldon returned for his second appearance at the Grill.  He was so anxious he was the first PAX to arrive, even before YHC who is typically 10 to 15 minutes early.  He also leaned from last week by not wearing shorts and remembered to bring gloves (last week was even colder than today’s 20 degrees).

The rest of the PAX appeared one by one.  Even Mr. Green made an appearance.  Myra and Pork Chop arrived right at 7:00.

The disclaimer was given and we launched into the warm-a-rama: SSH, Imperial Walkers, Abe Vigoda, Grass Pickers, BSE, Mountain Climbers, Bird Dog

Motivators 7 to 1

The Thang: Four Corners Escalator and De-escalator.

At this point another truck rolled into the parking lot just as we were about to embark on the escalator.  Another FNG!

The disclaimer was given again.

Mosey to the first corner of the park (Park Road and Island Street): complete 10 Merkins

Mosey to the second corner (Island and Peach Alley): complete 10 Diamond Merkins and 20 Lunges (IC)

Mosey down Peach Alley to Franklin Street: complete 10 Werkins, 20 Reverse Lunges (IC), and 30 Flutter Kicks (IC)

Mosey to the corner of Franklin and Park Road: complete 10 Irkins (IC), 20 Side Lunges (IC), 30 American Hammers (IC), and Bear Crawl (~ 40 yards)

At this point things got interesting.  First, Potsie provided an overview of the first leadership principle from the QSource — Disruption.  We started to mosey to our next destination but soon realized that our FNG was way behind splashing merlot, or rather the burger he ate last evening!  We’re not sure if it was something Potsie said, the Hammers, the Bear Crawl, or what but it certainly didn’t agree with our FNG!

Mr. Green sprang into action, following the F3 Credo, leave no man behind.  He dug out a water bottle from his truck and gave it to our FNG who humbly returned to the group.  At this point he could have gotten into his truck and gone home but he demonstrated fortitude and continued the workout!

Back to the Thang: Mosey to the pavilion: complete 10 Derkins, 20 Step Ups (IC), and 30 Freddie Mercuries

Mosey to the baseball dug out: complete 10 Carolina Dry Docks and 20 Squats (IC)

Mosey to the playground: complete 10 Brazilian Push ups

Wilson is a quick learner and wanted to share some additional exercises he experienced over the past two weeks that Myra, Sheldon, and our new FNG hadn’t, namely, Monkey Humpers.  So, of course we obliged…15 IC

Mosey to the bandstand for Mary.  Wilson once again piped up by observing that we didn’t do any burpees during this workout (unlike last week when we did plenty).  So once again, YHC wanted to sure he got his money’s worth for the workout.  5 Burpees IC

Mary: Dealer’s Choice — LBC, Box Cutters, Crab Cakes (compliments of Pork Chop who wanted to show off his prowess in conquering this exercise which he initially struggled with … farmers are not necessarily known for their coordination but with perseverance, even an old farmer can flawlessly lead crab cakes IC).  By now we were out of time.

COT: We had a lot of great material to go on with our FNG — his last name is Buck, he is a worship pastor, he is a coffee connoisseur, he splashed merlot on his first workout…so much to choose from.  In typical F3 fashion we came up with a name that no one saw coming — Star Burger.  It plays homage to 3 of his characteristics.  Coffee and his last name…Star Bucks, and the remains of his last meal which he left on the road… a Burger.

Prayers for Potsie’s father-in-law who is in the hospital with Covid and prayers for Ukraine.

It was a very enjoyable morning (well maybe not so much for Star Burger) but YHC had a great time!!!
