Well, the Grill broke it’s trend of an FNG every week but we did have most of our recent FNGs post to this morning’s workout. It was also great to see Ringworm back at the Grill after being away for awhile recovering from knee surgery.
Myra informed us that Wilson wouldn’t be joining us due to sickness in his household but it turned out that lack of sleep and not feeling totally great didn’t deter him after all. Wilson arrived late and had to race to the end of the street where we were in the middle of WAR.
Warm-a-rama: mosey to the end of the street, Arm Circles, Trunk Rolls, Hillbillies, Plank Jacks, Dive Bomber Merkins, Mountain Climbers
We made our way back to the shovel flag via Indian Run-style plank hurdles. In turn each planked ~ 15 yards apart and we took turns hurdling over each other. We make it ~ half way back via the hurdles and then moseyed to the concession stand.
The Thang — Modified Uptown 50 (or rather Uptown 40)
Disclaimer — I was planning to do this routine earlier in the week and then saw that Heisenberg also did it at the Trojan this week. He and I have been on the same wavelength recently. I miss seeing that guy!
Two sets of cones were set out ~ 40 yards apart with various modes of travel indicated.
10 Burpees prior to each mode of travel on one end and 10 Merkins at the other end for a total of 50 Burpees and 50 Merkins
- Broad Jumps
- Alligator Crawl
- Partner Carry 1 and 2
- Wheelbarrow 1 and 2
- NUR
- Crab walk
- Bear Crawl
- Sprint (AYG)
Half way through the routine, we took a breather while Potsie gave as an overview of one of the foundational principles of leadership from the Q Source — Group.
During the last round of burpees, YHC was getting lazy. Pocahontas called me out on my less than perfect form. Group and accountability in action! On our own we tend to skimp and cut corners. Nothing like another man to kick you back into alignment!
Mosey to the playground pavilion
- 15 Dips (IC)
- 10 Step Ups each leg
- Inclined Merkins
- Underdogs
- Pull ups
Mosey to the bandstand
Mary — Dealer’s Choice: Flutter Kicks, American Hammers, LBCs, Six Inches, Plank, Freddie Mercury, Scissors, Crab Cakes, and probably another exercise YHC can’t recall
COT: prayers for Wilson’s family as they deal with sick kids and sleepless nights, prayers for Ukraine and the world generally. It is easy to be overwhelmed and depressed at the current state of affairs. Pocahontas encouraged us to cultivate gratitude in our outlook. AMEN!
Announcements:
- The Grill’s 4-year manniversary is coming up and will be celebrated Saturday April 2nd. We’ll have a workout followed by breakfast provided in the park (families are welcome). For those who would like, and weather permitting, we’ll then hike to Pulpit Rock from the Hamburg Reservoir.
- F3 GrowRuck at Valley Forge, November 4-6; consider if interested
The Grill is burning nicely. We’re looking forward to a great year of furthering F3’s mission in Hamburg and beyond as we grow together as a team.
