Pork Chop (a.k.a. “Farmer Boy”) invited the gang to his farm in lieu of our normal Tuesday afternoon workout at the Grill followed by a campfire hot dog roast. It couldn’t have been a more perfect evening. Clear blue skies gave way to a starry night.
Nine PAX found their way to his farm over many twisty back roads in beautiful Berks county farmland. Pork Chop led us in a romp around the farm.
Warm-a-rama: SSH, Toy Soldiers, Abe Vigoda, Calf Stretch, BSE, Mountain Climbers
Mosey around to the back of the barn were we found two giant bails of hay.
Roll the bails up the incline and back down.
Sit on the hay bales for set of LBCs
- Broad Jump from the fence to the hay bails (~ 30 feet)
- Scramble over the bails
- NUR up the incline to the barn (~ 30 feet)
- Bear Crawl down and over the hay bails
- Broad Jump back to the fence
Rinse and Repeat
The next thing he had in store for us wasn’t nearly as fun. We walked over to a pile of old fence posts (these were big and heavy!).
Each man choose a post
- Arm Curls up to an overhead press X15
- Put post on shoulders and do shoulder rolls
- Squats with post X15
Rinse and Repeat
Put the posts back in their pile
Mosey up the cow path along the pasture
Stop halfway up for:
- 25 Merkins
- 15 Big Boy/American Hammers (1 Big Boy Sit up: 4 Hammers)
The cows were spread out across the pasture but this was just too interesting for them and most of them came (some of the calfs running and kicking up their heels) over to the fence to see what these men were doing flailing about in the grass. The cows were bawling at us to cheer us on. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the HUGE bull wasn’t too impressed and didn’t come over to see us.
Continue to mosey up the hill
repeat the Merkins and Sit ups
There was a wooden/metal structure in the sheep pasture which looked similar to a baseball back stop
We scrambled up onto it and did Pull ups (AMRAP)
Mosey over the crest of the hill and run through the upper pasture to the tree line
At this point the pasture had a steep decent into a hollow and back up on the other side.
Pork Chop had us run down the hill and up the other side two times. We had to be alert for cow pies, groundhog holes and dips.

Following the workout we went to the campfire which Pork Chop already had started. It was behind his AirBnB cottage along the Sacony Creek. We enjoyed hot dogs and other snacks around the campfire in an idyllic setting. Good fellowship and loads of fun.
